Last week really pushed me to see how much I could handle. I worked ten hours at my new job @ chaifetz arena and twelve hours at my internship @ campus kitchens. I had a big business law exam and kept up with running (kinda), but by friday I was exhausted and sick. I went to bed on friday night at 830! Woke up at 6am of course and got some homework done, went to yoga at lululemon. This weekend is the pardi gras stl tradition and while I am a little sad I couldn’t be apart of it this year and knowing I won’t be here next spring, I am not too torn up about it.
This morning I planned on going for a long run but woke up to sticking snow, and wimped out. I need to do a pick up at trader joe’s for CK soon, intern until around 4 and then hit the books. If it stops snowing I might try to run later or go to the gym, but I doubt it. I want this next week to be better than the last but when I am not getting good runs in it really messes me up – I just need more hours in the day!
…I’m blogging instead!
Whoa, today was busy to say the least. This weekend has been jammed pack but I am slowly but surely getting everything done. I woke up the morning and made my daily cafe au lait and headed to whole foods to get some groceries with my birthday gift card present. Here are some of my purchases: (sorry for the blackberry quality, one thing I did not accomplish was getting a camera cord…)
Afterwords, I headed over to trader joe’s to pick up some food for my internship @ campus kitchens. Very generous today which = a lot of heavy lifting!
Spent most of the day making fruit salad to feed almost 100 families, and delivered some meals as well. A little exhausted, I came back and showered off the kitchen smell and got right to work with all the homework I had been putting off until now. A few cuss words later, I am now taking a break before I head to the library!
Got to love my lululemon waterbottle on days like this
Cold and rainy days, oh how I am sick of you.
I really do think weather affects you more than you realize. If it is dark and rainy when I wake up, I am definitely more likely to a) skip a run b) procrastinate c) forget important things!! I am ready for Spring to arrive, but I am always way ahead of seasons – they should be organized around the academic calendar.
Anyways, woke up this morning and did go for a run through forest park in the rain, quick shower, public speaking test and can’t decide my attitude for the rest of my busy day!
Goal for the weekend – find a way to hook up my camera to my laptop! This blog needs some color.
As someone who doesn’t eat meat, I try to find other means of protein. While nuts sometimes have a bad reputation in the health world, they are actually good for you in moderation as they provide healthy fats and oils. I love all types of nut butters – peanut, cashew, almond… – and can add it to basically anything. I prefer the natural kind that you can grind yourself at the store (whole foods has a good selection) however, when on a budget (which everyone is these days) I also like Trader Joe’s brand crunchy almond butter.
Favorite pre-run snack? bannana and nut butter
Breakfast? Adding a dollop of nut butter in my oatmeal (or two!)
If you haven’t tried natural nut butters, give it a try! It’s purely nuts, no added refined sugars, oils or ANYTHING, just nuts! om nom nom… it could change your life.
As you might have guessed already, I am a running foodie that wants to share with you my training and food loving experiences!
I am trying to stray away from lables, but for almost a year now I have not eaten meat and have tried vegan and raw cuisines but I am really just trying to live a healthy lifestyle that makes me feel good and fueled up for long runs.
I am from Kansas City but currently live in Saint Louis for college at SLU.
